Our Second Year Highlights

Our second year has been centred upon growing a community of fans, friends and followers of Spanish cuisine. We’re happy to say that we’ve gained many friends over the past twelve months and we want to say thank you. Whether you’re an avid reader of our blog, a regular customer with a chorizo addiction or just a Twitter follower who wants to spread the word about quality produce, we know who you are and you’re most certainly appreciated.

Building awareness of quality Spanish produce is always at the forefront of everything we do at Eatapas. This stretches beyond ourselves. We feel it’s a way of life, an attitude or even mindset. We didn’t come into the business just to ‘sell’. We’re here to stand back and applaud the quality and experience of authentic food. This is why we regularly tweet or write blog posts about the different Spanish restaurants or food producers we admire. It’s because we believe that good food is a right which we’re all entitled to.

 

Taste of London 2016

2016 marked our second attendance at Taste of London. To read all about it, check out our post ‘Food, Wine and Not Much Sunshine – Our Week at Taste of London’. Throughout the week-long food festival we were overwhelmed by the reaction we received. We loved seeing the passion people had for food and the real desire to strive for quality that was displayed by the exhibitors.

This year, we offered a wide variety of samples including artisan Spanish cheeses, charcuterie and olive oils. On the Saturday, we were joined by experienced Master Carver Mr Javier Cerro who demonstrated his awe-inspiring skills with a delicious Ibérico Ham.

 

Eatapas Launches its Mediterranean Range

This year, we were proud to add yet another culinary addition to our gastronomic journey. Eatapas travelled the breadth of the Mediterranean to bring you some of the finest foods from Italy and France. Our new Mediterranean range offers exquisite produce like Parmigiano Reggiano aged for 24 months, exceptional artisan pasta and organic Modena balsamic vinegar aged for 3 years – as well as much more. This started as a handful of Italian products which is growing over time. This was a great step in the growth of our catalogue. Last year we offered around 120 different items, today we boast nearly 200. We’re committed to finding the very best selection of authentic produce for our customers and we’re proud of the constant increase in our selection. Browse our Mediterranean offerings here.

Other Highlights from the Year

In October 2015, we introduced a collection of quality Spanish wine to our online store. We began a successful working relationship with a specialised Spanish wine merchant based in London. This merchant hand picks family cellars which are less renowned yet offer excellent quality. Now, as a customer of Eatapas, you can find an exceptional collection of Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Penedés, Cava, Rueda as well as numerous other esteemed varieties. Furthermore, we’ve established a preferential relationship with Hacienda Zorita, a respected producer of wine with cellars located in many of the great Spanish winemaking regions. Both companies joined us at Taste of London this year to promote the wines available from our website.

In November 2015 we participated in the BBC Good Food show. Here, we took the opportunity to share our passion for Spanish cuisine with our customers. We offered samples, live demonstrations as well as a number of prizes for a handful of lucky attendees.

In April, we organised a cheese and wine tasting event in cooperation with De Vinos and Hotel Meliá where we hand selected six cheese and wine pairings. This was an exceptionally successful event which saw positive reviews from all who attended.

We also kept our collaboration with the London Business School alive by sponsoring the Manhattan Short Film Festival where we provided our authentic tapas at Tattoo 2016. The Tattoo is an intercultural party which takes place every year at the LBS campus where students showcase the unique traditions of their own countries.

This year we’ve offered our customers more than just food and wine. We’ve focussed on building up an active blog featuring insights on Spanish culture, art, history and of course both gastronomy and recipes. Be sure to check back regularly for new and exciting posts.

Our Best Sellers

We know the people who shop at Eatapas are passionate about their food. This is why we thought we’d share with you our three favourite products. These are the items that we highly recommend trying for yourself.

  1. After much deliberation, we’ve given the top spot to our favourite cured meat; the award winning Iberico Bellota Ham from Juan Pedro Domecq. This premium meat has been cured and aged for up to 52 months. This meat is certainly rare, in fact only 3,000 wild pigs are reared each year on a completely free range diet of acorns.
  2. Number two spot goes to our delicious Catalan fuet, perfect with warm bread. This tasty snack is made from lean pork meat wrapped in natural tripe.
  3. Next up absolutely has to be our artisan Cantabrian Anchovies. These exquisite fillets are meticulously selected, hand processed and matured for six months.
